The material of the HETI 1 litre bottles has changed

HETI 1 litre bottles will be made from Fortum Circo recycled plastic. At the same time, the shape of the bottle was redesigned so that the amount of plastic could be reduced by 6 g per bottle without compromising the strength of the bottle.

HETI 1 litre bottles made from recycled plastic

The HETI bottle format has been around for over 20 years. The look of the bottle is well known and practical, and we didn’t want to change it substantially. However, by slightly changing the angle of the neck of the bottle, we were able to reduce the amount of plastic used by 6g. This is a huge saving in plastic, but also has an impact on transport costs due to its lighter weight.

Recycling of professional grades of plastic is still relatively new. A lot of time was spent on development before moving to recycled plastic in the 1 litre HETI bottle. The type of plastic used for professional cleaning packaging was carefully selected, as highly concentrated products place high demands on the durability and safety of the packaging. Cleaning products must remain in good condition for many years, the bottle must be able to withstand, for example, the weight load during transport and some impact. In the end, Fortum Circo® was selected as the best recycled plastic. Fortum collects it from Finnish consumers. The quality of Fortum Circo® recycled plastic is certified to the EUCertPlast standard, which guarantees, among other things, the uniformity of the recycled plastic.

The HETI Pro packaging is grey in colour, as you cannot make recycled plastic packaging completely white without adding dyes. Different batches of bottles may have slightly different shades of grey. This is characteristic of recycled plastic.

Berner has received positive feedback on the appearance of HETI Pro packaging. The use of recycled plastic in packaging is even a competitive advantage.

The HETI recycled plastic bottle will be used from production from June 2023.
